First Executive Committee Meeting for 2017-2018

On October 12, 2017, the first Executive Committee meeting was held for the 2017-2018 members tendered by the 2017-2018 President, Consul General Khaled AlSharif.

Private Tour to the Frick Collection

On July 7th , Consul General of Georgia and Deputy President of SOFC Diana Zhgenti kindly organized a tour to The Frick Collection for the members of the Society.

From left to right the attendants were Consul General of Georgia and Deputy President of SOFC Diana Zhgenti, Consul General of Estonia Eva-Maria Liimets, the tour guide Mariam Charlton, and the Consul of Singapore.

Annual Assembly 2017

On June 6, the members of SOFC gathered for the Annual Assembly at the Bohemian National Hall. During the Assembly, Consul General of Colombia and President of SOFC during 2016 – 2017 H.E. Maria Isabel Nieto gave the annual report and Consul General of Georgia and Treasurer of SOFC during 2016 – 2017 Hon. Diana Zhgenti presented the financial report of the period.

During the Assembly the new Executive Committee was elected and the new By Laws were adopted.

We counted with the presence of Consuls General, members of SOFC and Mr. Jeffrey Cellars, Area Director of the Office of Foreign Missions from the U.S Department of State.

May 22

Private tour to the New York Public Library

On May 22, the members of the Society experienced a tour that took them back to the beginnings of the city and were able to explore the New York City Library with the help of their guide Mr. Keith Glutting. Thanks to the initiative of the Consul General of Kazakhstan, Hon. Raushan Yesbulatova who organized this tour.

Tour of the Fingerlakes area and Western NY regions

During this three-day tour organized by New York State’s Empire State Development - Global NY the members of the Society and people close to the consulates were able to meet with the authorities of the region and get a closer look at the evolution in terms of investment and opportunities that this area has experienced.

Breakfast Meeting at Univision

Consuls General gathered for a meeting with the media and different offices from the city and the state to discuss migratory matters and find ways to help the con-nationals. This meeting gave them a clearer view of the current situation and made it possible to have access to this information from the direct sources that help the immigrant population every day.

Lady Consuls General Lunch

The Lady Consuls General of New York shared a lovely lunch commemorating International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day

On March 2nd 2017 at the Consulate General of Czech Republic, we enjoyed the company of 18 Honorees from the participant consulates. It was an evening that empowered the efforts of women in different fields, their careers and the contributions to their countries and the world. We also tasted different food, wine and spirits, courtesy of the generosity of sponsors and countries that participated.

International Food Festival

Thanks to the hospitality of the Consulate general of India, the Consul General Riva Ganguly Das, the Consul General of Colombia and President of the Society of Foreign Consuls Maria Isabel Nieto and all the countries that participated with the delicious samples of food, beverages and beautiful cultural performances from their countries, the attendants of the International Food Festival could enjoy a lovely evening full of human warmth despite the storm that took place that day.

Members of SOFC touring Grand Central Terminal

We wish to thank William Schneider, CEO & Founder of NY Adventure Club for hosting the amazing tour and Daniel Brucker, our fantastic guide. The special tour took us from the catwalks high above the main terminal, through the secret substations far beneath to Franklin D. Roosevelt’s abandoned train underneath the Waldorf-Astoria.
